Spy holes can be fitted to our steel security door range to allow the person on the inside of the building to see who or what is on the outside of the door.

A spyhole is a great feature for the security of the person on the inside of the building, as they can see whether it is safe to open the door or not.

As standard we fit the spyholes at a height of 1650mm up from the bottom of the sill/threshold. We always install the unit centrally so there is an equal gap on either side of the spy hole. However, if you or your client has a specific location for the spy hole to be fitted please state at the point of order so our steel door workshop team can fit the spy hole to suit your exact specification.

Our standard spyholes come complete with a cover and allow a clear viewing area of 180 degrees. We can also install spyholes that allow a viewing area from 130 degrees up to 200 degrees if required.

We are also able to supply the spyhole units loose if you require them on a supply only basis. We carry large stocks of this item so if you require them fast, don’t worry we will be able to supply!

Please feel free to contact our steel door sales team for more information if required

FAQs

  • In stock single doors: The cylinder and key set is found in the top of the frame.
  • Double doors: The cylinder is placed in one of the handle boxes.
  • Fire exits: The keys are taped to the door or around the panic bar.

All our frames come supplied with side channels that are fitted around the outside of the frame. The side channels expand by winding out the fixing bolts which in turn push the side channels outwards allowing you to expand the frame between the two measurements.

All our doors are designed to open outwards which makes them more secure and weather-proof. If you require the door to open inwards you are required to install the frame the opposite way, this does have an effect on the security and weather-proof aspect of the door. We would recommend adding a rain drip to any inward opening doors being installed externally helping to prevent water ingress.

A blanking plate is a sheet of steel used to cover the handle fixing locations that are pre-cut into our multi-point locking door blades. These are only necessary if you don’t require a lever handle to be fitted, we offer these with or without key access.
