FAQs
Our standard steel security doors are 50mm thick, but for more precise measurements on each door, please check the CAD drawing on each door listing.
A metal gauge system is used to measure the thickness of metal. The lower the number, the thicker the material. In regard to steel doors, a lower gauge enhances durability and security, though often they will be constructed with multiple layers of steel.
The lower the gauge of the steel used in a security door, the thicker it is. Therefore, it is recommended that steel security doors are made from low-gauge steel so that they remain as secure as possible. If you use high-gauge steel, the thinner material can be less secure.
There are several reasons that a steel door frame is important:
- Strength: Steel is stronger and more durable than wood or other common door frame materials. This strength makes it difficult for potential intruders to force entry.
- Resistance: Steel is incredibly hard to tamper with or manipulate. It cannot be kicked in, pried apart, or sawed through, providing further security.
- Support: Security doors are heavy. A steel frame is needed to support that weight and ensure that the doors function properly.
- Fire resistance: Unlike wood, steel is not as flammable and can help to contain the spread of fire.
- Low maintenance: Steel is durable, and its longevity means that it requires less maintenance over time.
Selecting the right security door for you depends entirely on your specific needs, with options that include standard steel security doors, fire rated doors, decorative panelled doors, louvered doors and container doors. You will need to work out if security is your main priority, or perhaps you are more concerned with mitigating the risk of fire - once you know this you will be able to select the right door for you.
A double steel security door can be as secure as a single steel security door, but there are some inherent differences that can impact their security levels. A double security door can be weaker at its central meeting point, it needs to be secured to prevent it from being jemmied open. In order to reinforce that central meeting point, it will need a robust multi-point locking system.
All of our double steel security doors come with reinforced anti-jemmy hinges and frames, as well as a robust multi-point locking system, so you can rest assured that your double steel security door is as safe and secure as possible.

This key can be used in any accessible lock across multiple venues to provide specialist access to toilets and other buildings that are designed for disabled people.
Steel is the best choice for a security door as it’s the hardest to break into. With its exceptional strength, incredible durability, and resistance to break-ins, a steel door is by far the best option for a security door. It is capable of withstanding a number of severe weather conditions, and with anti-jemmy hinges installed, it is significantly difficult to gain unauthorized access.

Yes, the frame and door fixing kit are needed. The door fixing kit ensures that your door is securely fastened to the structure and enhances resistance to forced entry. A steel security door is also considerably heavier than a regular door, so the frame is essential to support this weight. Not only this but our frames integrate with the multi-point locking systems in our doors. Therefore, we ensure that both of these elements come with your door so that there are no weaknesses in your new security door.
